My Life Before Bariatric Surgery

I didn't feel like a productive member of the world.  I wasn't able to do things that I wanted to with my daughter or my job.  I couldn't have a conversation with somebody and look them in the eye.  I had no confidence and felt that I was letting everyone down.  I was letting myself down, first and foremost, because I just wasn't happy.

I tried the diet programs, fad diets, shots, pills and drinks-everything.  I would lose the weight and gain it back again.  I felt like a failure.

Making the Decision

I had seen the commercials for Barix over the past year.  This time, I decided to actually pick up the phone and call.  I was tired.  Tired of having to buy clothes that made me feel like a woman three times my age.  Tired of seeing my reflection in a mirror or a window and not recognizing that person as me.  Tired of going to work and not having enough energy at the end of the day to make dinner.  Tired of not being able to do simple tasks like climbing a flight of stairs.  I can't explain the sadness in my heart when I think about what I was missing in my life.  I had such a beautiful family that was being held back because of my issues.  We didn't do much socially because, frankly, I didn't want to be seen by anyone.  Even when I was feeling particularly brave and dared to venture out into the world, I just didn't have the energy to enjoy it.  Life was a spectator sport for me. So, I made the call.  I took the first step to the most incredible gift I've ever given myself: hope, faith, success.

How My Life Has Changed

I used to sing.  My childhood dream was to sing like Olivia Newton-John.  I quit because I didn't want people looking at me.  I couldn't be on stage.  I had no confidence.  I am now performing with a band again and singing karaoke.

I used to drag myself out of bed to get ready for work.  Now I get up half an hour early-just to start my day with a little quiet time.

I've been promoted at work and have more confidence in the work that I do.  I can look people in the eye when I am talking to them.  I am able to sell my ideas.

It's a whole new existence.  My days are longer and more fulfilled.  Everything has a brighter color to it.  I am so much happier.

To Those Considering Bariatric Surgery

The Barix staff was incredible.  Barix has the most knowledge, experience, and support.  I had my surgery more than 11 years ago and they are still there for me.

I have lost 132 pounds*. I am HAPPY in my own skin.  This is most certainly the best gift I have ever given myself.
